Overview
Beadbox is a desktop application that runs entirely on your computer. Your issue tracking data never leaves your machine. We built Beadbox with a local-first architecture because we believe your project data belongs to you.
Data that stays on your device
All beads databases, workspace configurations, and issue data are stored locally on your computer. Beadbox reads from and writes to your local beads database files. None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Data we collect
Anonymous usage analytics
We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics on our marketing website (beadbox.app). This helps us understand which pages are visited and how users discover Beadbox. These analytics do not collect personally identifiable information and are limited to the website, not the desktop application.
Crash reports
If the desktop application crashes, a crash report may be generated locally. These reports are not automatically sent to us. You may choose to share them when filing a bug report on GitHub.
License validation
Beadbox may contact our servers to validate your trial or license status. This check transmits only a machine identifier and license key. No project data, file contents, or issue details are included.
Third-party services
- PostHog (website analytics only): see PostHog's privacy policy
- GitHub (releases and issue tracking): see GitHub's privacy policy
Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies for theme preference and analytics. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
Children's privacy
Beadbox is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
